Greta visits Calgary for regional Colour

Hello , My dears, I really must rush this letter out to you all, as usual ,my dear design Fiends, I have neglected you...I must blame my partner in art-crime, Aurel Guillory, for the many distractions he presents to me daily..Take this letter to you,for example, I am clacking away at my fellow design /architects here in Ottawa in the trendy Glebe with the well-known architect Barry Hobin's Glasgow condos -{ loads of Charles Rennie MacIntosh influences}, on their big MAC like mine, so at least my fingers and eyes feel the familiar keyboard and screen. However, since this afternoon, with a lovely hint of imminent SPRING hovering in the air; I can still see the vision of Berninis' protrait bust of his Tragic Constance hovering in my soul. Thé last day for the exhibit, and definitely worth the trip. So, as a truant from my comfy studion in Montreal, I must recount some recent experiences with Aurel and the WORD OF THE SEASON :EDIT! My friends here have moved 4 times in 10 years from paris, then 3 in Montreal and now to our Capital. They have confronted their demons and learned the cursed word EDIT ALSO. They have thrown out every book that they think "didn'tcontribute to their life somehow.." the rule that you must re-cycle all clothes you have not worn in a year. rmains also valid for furnishing items stashed in the back closet---.not :when you lose 15 pounds" or" When you will find the right colour top (or bottom) to fit" These phrases are NOT allowed! That they still posess (and often use) about 2600 books still with them, is a testimony to their priorities.. do think deeply about yours. Do use the marvelous Friperies and retro shops here, I have found some of the best vases. Amhurst street from Sherbrooke down to St; Catherine is a hot-bed of treasures and places you can sell those edited things,,The same goes for furniture that you keep promising to re-hab, or refinish THROW IT TRADE IT , OR BEST SELL IT FOR THE TRAVEL FUND! I am not impressed with clutter, and I often poke Aurel over his Baroque tendencies. If you can't feel like passing it on to your best (younger) friend, or your children, don"t buy it! Now, enough lecturing..Please do come to my presentation with Aurel at the Westmount Library Thursday, March26, at1:30 to see his THE UPSIDE OF DOWNSIZING talk , He will be fresh from the Praries, with Calgary' House of Persian Rugs dialogue with about 50 designers there. Yes, Virginia ,there are cultural differences inColour Schemes.Ido mean the gracious Virginia Lemoyne of the series Art Focus, who is the genius creator of the series.
